Would-be victim thwarts robbery

A holdup victim recognized the BB gun held by the would-be robber as a gun he himself owned, so he called the suspect on the ruse and avoided giving up his cash.

Madison police said the attempted holdup took place on Thursday at about 5:30 p.m. on Mohawk Circle on the city's west side.

The victim was walking down the street when the suspect approached, pulled out a gun, pointed it at the victim and ordered him to turn over his wallet.

He was going to do so, until he recognized the weapon in the suspect's hand as a BB pistol.

"He owned the same gun," said police spokesman Joel DeSpain. "He called the suspect on it and the suspect turned and hustled away."

The suspect is a black male, 18-21 years old, 5'8" tall, slender build with corn rolls in his hair, wearing a white hooded sweatshirt with fancy designs, including stars.

Wonder if it was one of those fancy Walther P38 with a fake silencer as advertised in Sportsman's Guide. They look real enough from a distance.

How about taking it out of his hands and smacking him in the ****ing face with it??

Maybe the thing would have gone off, and the perp would still be charged with attempted murder.

OMG If you were trying to rob me and some how I figured it out you are NOT holding the real deal???

Sweet Mother Mary there will not be enough of him to identfy.

I would fake handing him my wallet just so I get close enough . The first blow would stun him and the next one I will proceed to drag him into the nearest alley to start bashing his face into a mushy pulp.

I have a particular horrid disdane for theives. .......... I cant get even with what the Gubbermint steals from me . But You ...I am going to take it outta your hide and then some.

Pull a BB gun and try to rob me, you're going to get carried by 6. I may take a BB to the chest but you're getting two .38's to the head.

Love it....it's time to turn the tables on the bad guys. I would make him suffer first and humiliate him a bit before putting the hurt on him.
